Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison by Shepard Fairey

As we celebrated, last month, the 50th anniversary of Johnny Cash’s Live at Folsom Prison album, renowned artist Shepard Fairey took over Folsom Prison in Sacramento. Reproducing a Jim Marshall picture of the late singer on the 15-story building, the famous artist is once again using his art to initiate conversation around important social issues. This time, he’s focussing on the issue of incarceration reform, highlighting the fact that the United States have the highest incarceration rate in the World and that its prisons are disproportionately filled with people of colour.
