Enter the OASIS! A Cirque du Soleil X MURAL project

You’ve probably heard of ECHO, the Cirque du Soleil show that’s been delighting Montreal audiences. But what you didn’t know is that we’ve been working on an art project together! Discover “ ECHO OASIS“, Danica Olders’ new mural, in collaboration with MURAL and Cirque du Soleil!
This mural, located at 3724 Boulevard Saint Laurent, was made to transport us into the world of ECHO, the latest Cirque du Soleil show, currently running in Montreal’s Old Port until August 20. Its focal point, a white cube reminiscent of one of the key objects in the plot, is surrounded by human and animal figures gazing towards the horizon or the audience, who seem to be waiting for a development or to beckon to us, as if inviting us to open the door to their world.
For Danica Olders, creating a mural that gets to the heart of Cirque du Soleil’s dreamlike universe was the ideal project. The work of this multidisciplinary Canadian artist is highly symbolic and playful. Her surreal, abstract and intentional art serves as a vessel for exploring space, our place in it, and the narratives that are created within it. What better way to journey to the OASIS?
The unveiling of OASIS took place on August 3 2023, and we organized a unique event to make it even more special: from 9pm to 11pm, the mural came to life thanks to live projections by MAPPLIGHTS, creating a bridge between ECHO’s world and our own that left a lasting impression.
