Taking a magnifying glass to the defining elements of identity, artist Michael Reeder creates eclectic portraits wherein he constructs entirely new individuals. Working in a free-flowing pallet of bright solid color, Reeder realized his ability to construct a distinct persona with each iteration.
Essentially a chemist, blending between cultural touch-points, religious iconography, and contemporary visual stylings, Reeder tackles a wide range of earthly elements. His “collage-esque” look melds intricate layers, rendering patterns to graphic realism. By analyzing the interactions between shadows and light, he inserts his visions into a complex matrix of anatomical detail on a supreme plane.
