Ankhone

It was in the early 90s that Ankhone began graffiti on the walls of his hometown, Grenoble, nestled at the foot of the French Alps. In 1999, this mode of expression led him to the École Supérieure d’Art Appliqué in Troyes, where he obtained a diploma in graphic design. Having learned more institutional techniques and filled with creative fuel, he gradually transposed his pictorial and graphic work to painting, while retaining his graffiti influences. A style that he later defined as “poetry in motion”.

Still in France, the artist joined the renowned Parisian collective, the 9e Concept, in 2001 and worked as artistic director for Graff-It magazine. In 2010, Ankhone visited Canada for the first time and decided to move to Montreal a year later.

Among his first contracts on Canadian soil was the design of movie sets for films such as Tom à la Ferme and Just the End of the World by Quebec director Xavier Dolan. Ankhone has been a member of the ASHOP collective since 2013 and has been working for the agency of the same name since then.
