Mort

Mort

A multidisciplinary artist, MORT’s practice extends beyond the two-dimensional canvas. According to the artist, the act of decontextualization is an intrinsic and central theme of his work.

Combining drawing, acrylic and spray paint, his visual constructions oscillate between figuration and abstraction. He also composes through image transfer, silkscreening and woodworking, enriching his practice. His works are a hybrid of elements borrowed from pop culture, Renaissance painting and skateboard illustrations. A strong Japanese influence is present in both anime and American cartoons.

The contrast between the symbols of martyrdom and the famous distorted logos form the elements of the artist’s mythology. In his production, technique is always paramount, and he is constantly on the lookout for new shapes and colors that will advance his individual visual language.
