Escif

Escif

Escif was born in Valence in 1980.He is a mural painter. He has been active on the street-art scene since the late 90s. His work focuses mainly on the resignification of the city, based on the assertion that life will always be more interesting than art. With a sharp drawing of clear lines and sober colors, his murals interrogate current struggles, resistance movements, the challenges of capitalism and the environmental problems that darken our times. At times, his paintings appear as minimal gestures that burst into reality, reminding us of the beauty of all that surrounds us.

Much of his work has been developed in his native Valencia. Nevertheless, he has carried out a large number of international projects in urban contexts all over the world, always in direct contact with the public and the reality of the context.

In recent years, we can highlight his interventions in art centers such as the Power Station museum in Shanghai (China, 2016), the IVAM museum (Valencia, 2017), the Palais de Tokyo museum (Paris, 2018), the CCCC museum (Valencia, 2020) ; or his participation in events such as the Biennale d’art africain contemporain (Dakar, 2014), OFF Manifesta X (Saint Petersburg 2014), the “Dismaland” project organized by Banksy in Weston-super-Mare (England, 2015) or the Biennale de Lyon (France, 2019).
