Katie Green is a visual artist based in Mohkínstsis in Treaty 7 Territory (Calgary, Alberta), known for creating intimate, acrylic ink paintings that evoke eerie, ethereal personas. Rooted in emotional exploration, their work transforms internal landscapes into hauntingly expressive characters, offering a therapeutic process of discovery, reflection, and healing. Each painting is a search—a quiet invitation for unseen beings to emerge and take form.
These visual narratives serve as the foundation for immersive murals where fantastical figures melt and morph into imagined worlds. Increasingly, Katie’s mural practice invites community collaboration through mask-making workshops that give shape to hidden identities and emotional truths in large-scale public installations.
Their work has been supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and Calgary Arts Development, as well as international residencies including the Santa Fe Art Institute and the Vermont Studio Center. Katie has created murals across Canada, the U.S., Germany, Romania, Taiwan, and Belgium. In addition to their work as a muralist and painter, Katie has collaborated with a range of organizations—from The Old Trout Puppet Workshop and Pink Flamingo to the Esker Foundation and Arts Commons—offering workshops and artistic programming that bridge personal expression with collective experience.
